In just 16 weeks Techtrack spans the continent to execute successful fixed-asset inventory
Vancouver, BC – February 4, 2010 – A growing national health consortium with medical offices, clinics and hospitals in a dozen states across the US and an expanding labor force found themselves with increasing IT needs and multiplying equipment purchases. New equipment was being purchased as needed regionally but the incoming and outgoing assets were not being tracked financially at a national level.
In 2009 operating under directives to find avenues for consolidation and increased utilization of their IT fixed assets, the organization partnered with Techtrack Solutions to deliver a complete picture of their national fixed-asset inventory.
With over 13 years in the ITAM business, Techtrack responded quickly mobilizing a national team of auditors trained in unique environments from hospitals to nuclear power plants to government offices. Like locusts the team spread out to all corners of the continent, suiting up in scrubs to capture surgical equipment in Southern Hospitals and hunting down medical storage trailers amid Redwoods in the Pacific Northwest.
In 16 weeks the Techtrack team visited 209 facilities across a dozen States, inventorying a total of 17,625 assets while achieving a 95% accuracy rate.
The resulting nation-wide fixed asset database and facility blueprints with mapped asset locations enabled the organization to physically dispose of old equipment and remove them from financial records, enabling massive savings in tax dollars.
What’s more, they were able to reassign networked printers for maximum utilization. At nurses’ stations where once there were five printers, each assigned to separate task, became streamlined into one multifunctional device that handled all print jobs. This reduced costly toner, paper and maintenance fees. On top of that they renegotiated their service contracts and improved the process of all future audits.
